Mike Messier

Mike is a junior forester at Trout Mountain Forestry, working on a wide variety of projects including management planning and mapping, forest inventory, harvest layout, timber felling and logging. Mike came to Trout Mountain in May of 2010 from Corvallis, where he completed his Master’s Degree in Forest Ecology at Oregon State University. His research focused on reconstructing historic stand structures and fire regimes in low-elevation riparian forests of southwestern Oregon. Some of Mike’s other work experience includes invasive plant management, ecological restoration, wildland fire management and forest inventory with the National Park Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe (Idaho), and the Student Conservation Association.
